Roundabout construction at 14th Avenue and Jefferson Street – The roundabout under construction at the intersection of 14th Avenue S.E. and Jefferson Street S.E. continues on every corner of the intersection. Watch for traffic control. Jefferson St. south of 14th is closed. Scholarships Now Available for Leadership Thurston County Class of 2011. Scholarship funds may be used to pay up to one-half the annual tuition for two program participants. Thurston County nonprofit organizations can receive volunteer help for hands-on projects as part of United Way of Thurston County’s 18th annual Day of Caring on September 24. Day of Caring is an annual event where hundreds of volunteers from throughout Thurston County join local nonprofit and other community organizations to work on service projects. Participating organizations are matched with volunteers who give their time, talent and services to change our community for the better in one day. United Way, in partnership with the Volunteer Center of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties, invites agencies to submit a project through an easy online registration process. SASL Tournament participants and spectators: Yauger Park Parking in West Olympia: Construction to increase stormwater retention at Yauger Park has been in progress since May. Due to this project, parking at the park during our tournament will be limited to the paved lot on the north side of the park at the end of Alta Dr (next to the horseshoe pits and Dirt Works). To mitigate parking loss, the City has received permission from the property owner across Cooper Pt. Rd to utilize their lot for parking during league games and tournaments. A map is online at www.ftemag.com and click on “Coming Events” Please show your appreciation for the parking access by parking properly in the stalls. We appreciate their willingness to share the space this year. Participants should properly utilize all crosswalks on Cooper Point Rd when accessing the park. Carpooling for activities at Yauger Park is encouraged this summer. Please budget time to cross Cooper Point Road and the park fields.
